KEY FACTS

  • Over 500 S61 consent documents approved
  • Noise team integrated into the project
  • Noise modelling and assessments across 8 construction sites

7wa was appointed by Ferrovial Laing O’Rourke Joint Venture in 2015 to provide the lead noise and vibration role and technical acoustic support for the Tideway Central project in London.

Tideway is a multi billion pound construction project to build a new 25km tunnel under the Thames to  upgrade the sewer system to cope with London’s growing population. The Central area of the project covers 10 worksite locations over 5 Local Authorities with stringent noise criteria to protect adjacent residents and sensitive receptors.

To assist in this project we integrated a core team of acoustic specialists working from the main site office in Battersea so that we could work closely with the site engineers, environmental advisors and consents teams.

Our work has involved

  • development of Section 61 Prior Consent Applications – to date we have issued, and received consent for over 500 Section 61 documents
  • construction noise modelling
  • assessment of noise and vibration impacts to sensitive receptors
  • construction noise and vibration monitoring
  • compliance with the Projects Noise Insulation and Temporary Rehousing criteria
  • compliance with the requirements of the Environmental Statement and Development Consent Order
  • development of mitigation options to reduce impacts and ensure adoption of Best Practicable Means
  • Presentations for residents working groups
  • Preparation of Trigger Action Plans
  • Close liaison with 5 local authorities

We were further appointed to provide a web-based, real-time noise and vibration monitoring system and alerting system to ensure active management of noise impacts and to meet Project Contractual
requirements. This was achieved using the Enbox monitoring platform enabling noise and vibration equipment from various manufacturers to be presented on one website. The system further incorporated a database to store and allow easy access to all of the Section 61 documents and track
expiry dates.

We have provided acoustic consultancy services since the start of the works in 2015 and continue to provide support on this prestigious project until completion in 2024.

"The level of support we have received from 7th Wave has been superb. Their weight of experience supporting major infrastructure construction works is evidenced by their consistently proactive engagement with all parts of projects – in order to manage construction nuisances, as well as obtain Section 61 consents with an efficiency hitherto unknown."
